INTRODUCTION
The process of qualifying Professionals abroad represents a substantial
proportion of the Brazilian budget for science and technology. The UK is
the country which receives the third largest number of Brazilian
students sponsored by government agencies.
However, among the PhD students there is a consensual opinion that it is
necessary to minimise inherent difficulties that make the student life
far from suitable to develop a good work in UK. There is a urgent need
to discuss about topics such as a better integration between Brazilian
and British universities, the resources and service being offered to
Brazilian postgraduate students, and other particular matters as the
student's better acquaintance with the language, among others.
ABEP, as the association representing the interests of Brazilian
postgraduate students in the UK, believes the participation of the
students is necessary to unleash the discussion. Therefore, we would
like to hold regular meeting where the presence of both British and
Brazilian educational authorities and students may provide a healthy
environment for this integration. On the ground of this, we propose some
themes which is open to suggestions to be discussed in panel format.
