Part-time Lectorship in Brazilian Portuguese – 10 month fixed-term appointment
Grade 5: Salary £22,971-£27,428 (pro rata 0.5)
Applications are invited for the part-time (0.5) post of Lector in Brazilian Portuguese, which is available from 1 September 2011. Applicants should be fluent in Brazilian Portuguese to native-speaker level, and have recent immersion in a Brazilian cultural context. They should have a good command of English, and experience of teaching and assessing Portuguese at an appropriate level. A university qualification in modern languages or language teaching would be an advantage.
The appointee will be required to prepare and deliver classes in the oral and written use of Portuguese, to set, mark, grade and report on students’ work and tests, to participate in oral examinations, to take part in the annual pre-sessional, intensive courses and Brazil Week, and to carry out some administrative duties in the sub-faculty as required.
This is a fixed-term post tenable for a period of not more than 10 months. The closing date for applications (in English) is midday on Thursday 30 June 2011 and it is hoped to hold interviews in the week commencing 11 July 2011.
